Video-Essay: The Content Creator as (Algorithmic) Folk Artist
The Artnews essay is now a video-essay directed by the one and only Molly Soda
I have a new video-essay out.
It visually surfs through different eras of content creation as I discuss the practice’s future in the age of AI. The inspiration for the idea came from the song “Giorgio” by Daft Punk and Giorgio Moroder. I asked Molly to bring a bunch of her old webcams and digital cameras and go through the essays through the digital lens of time! You’ll notice also that process seeps through, the labor of content creation is present in the video essay. The video is of course content… And I… well you get it.
Hope you enjoy it!
Fantastic analysis. Creator free AI generated content could become a form of “digital weather” in the attention economy. But as we observe and respond to it, I’m hoping we’ll build more spaces where we can take shelter from the storms. Sanctuaries of slowness. Or maybe I just miss Hennessy Youngman. Peace and Love ✌️
